The Israeli Climate Forum

The Israeli Climate Forum was initiated by President Isaac Herzog in January 2022, chaired by Dr. Dov Khanin, and operates under the auspices of the President's Residence. The forum aims to promote a change in Israel's approach to the climate crisis. Its establishment signifies the state's commitment to being at the forefront of the global discussion on this issue and is directed towards fostering cooperation among groups and sectors within Israeli society, as well as regional and international collaboration on the matter. The forum brings decision-makers at the highest levels face-to-face with the forefront of climate thinking and action in Israel.

The Goals of the Climate Forum are as follows:

• Promoting the adoption of mitigation policies to reduce Israel's greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2035 (aligning us with the international agreed upon targets).

• Promoting the adoption of climate change adaptation policies at both the national and local government levels.

• Creating a platform for cross-sectoral cooperation among academia, civil society, government agencies, the public sector, and the business sector in the field of climate change.

• Translating the necessary changes into concrete actions in various aspects of life, both at the national and local government levels.

• Serving as an advisory body to the President on climate and environmental issues.

The Climate Forum includes representatives from the President’s Office, government ministries, the Knesset, local government, academia, and civil society organizations operating in the field.
