Community and Activism
L&E manages the environmental movement community by providing resources, promoting engagement, and fostering a sense of belonging through newsletters, learning opportunities, and inclusive initiatives. Additionally, L&E's collaboration with Tzedek Centers focuses on empowering local communities to drive environmental and social change through training and partnerships, aiming to create a strong network of grassroots activists.
Community Management
As an umbrella organization for the environmental movement, L&E plays a crucial role in managing and nurturing the movement community. One of our key initiatives is the publication of monthly newsletters, which provide the latest news, updates, opportunities, and avenues for involvement. These newsletters are designed to keep our community informed and engaged, ensuring that everyone is aware of the latest developments and can participate in meaningful ways.
Our aim is to create strong and supportive communities where individuals feel a sense of belonging and connection. We believe that fostering a sense of community is essential for the success of the environmental movement. To achieve this, we focus on several core areas:
Promoting Learning and Growth: We provide a variety of opportunities for people to learn new things and develop their skills. This includes workshops, webinars, training sessions, and educational materials.
Encouraging Community Involvement:Â We actively encourage members of our community to get involved in various initiatives and projects. Whether it's participating in local clean-up events, joining advocacy campaigns, or volunteering for conservation efforts, we provide numerous ways for organizations and individuals to contribute.
Fostering a Sense of Belonging:Â We work to create spaces where people feel welcomed and valued. By fostering inclusivity and respect, we ensure that everyone in our community can connect and collaborate effectively. Our goal is to build a network of individuals who support each other and work together towards common environmental goals.
Activism and Local ActionÂ
Since 2023 L&E is collaborating with Tzedek Centers, an initiative which aims to secure Israel’s democratic future through grassroots work and high-impact initiatives by organizing local civic efforts and addressing challenges like inequality, social polarization, and government mistrust. Tzedek Centers bring together city residents for social change training programs, providing tools, fostering partnerships, and building a shared vision. Graduates lead city policy improvements, local campaigns, and social initiatives, creating a network of changemakers.
L&E's collaboration with Tzedek Centers addresses the need for a robust community presence. Environmental organizations, facing disrupted routines, now recognize the increased necessity to connect with the community.
Goals of the Program:
Develop a strong, active and influential local environmental community.
Create and expand environmental projects within the community.
Professionalize and enhance the local community's capacity to influence through activism and new tools.
Equip the local community with tools to impact public opinion and decision-makers.
Connect the local community with national environmental organizations.
Expose the community to environmental activities, content, and values.
