From victories in the battle against environmental degradation to empowering legal mechanisms for accountability, there's much to celebrate.

🌊 Positive developments in the environmental organizations' joint effort against EAPC

Encouraging news from the collective efforts of environmental organizations: Following the government’s December decision to expand EAPC’s oil transport in the Gulf of Eilat, it now appears that the Ministry of Environmental Protection will not grant the necessary professional approval for implementation, until EAPC presents a risk assessment .

This marks a crucial victory, made possible through the determined cooperation of organizations and activists. However, the fight is far from over—EAPC, the Prime Minister’s Office, and the Ministry of Finance continue to push forward.

We will continue working to ensure this decision is upheld and that environmental concerns remain a priority.

🦌 World Wildlife Day – A Global Celebration for Wildlife Conservation

Every year on March 3rd, the world celebrates World Wildlife Day, declared by the United Nations to raise awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife.

In honor of this day, Life & Environment's Coalition for Wildlife, held a week of educational and awareness activities for the second consecutive year. The events included a variety of activities, tours, and lectures, with special events tailored for the Arab community. Over 12,000 children from more than 300 schools participated, and the website received over 5,000 visits.

This initiative continues to strengthen public awareness and engagement in wildlife conservation, with a focus on fostering a shared commitment to protecting Israel’s natural heritage.

⚖️ Strengthening Civil Enforcement: Call for Proposals for Environmental Class Actions

Together with Firefly, we launched a new initiative to support class action lawsuits on environmental, public health, and animal rights issues.

Our goal is to empower civil enforcement by:

✅ Raising awareness of class action lawsuits as a powerful legal tool.

✅ Funding 2-4 impactful cases selected by a joint committee.

✅ Providing up to 450,000 ₪ in financial support to each case.

✅ Covering costs for expert opinions, surveys, research, and case development.

This initiative is a significant step toward holding polluters and violators accountable while strengthening legal advocacy in these critical sectors.

As we move forward, we remain committed to amplifying our collective impact, fostering partnerships, and pushing for policies that safeguard our environment for future generations.
