Dear Friends,
We’ve just returned from our annual staff seminar—two full days of deep discussions, tough questions, fresh ideas, and one clear focus: how we can better serve as a professional and practical backbone for our member organizations.
Throughout the seminar, in every roundtable and every draft of our work plan, one central theme kept coming up: the organizations are the reason we’re here. From professional consultations, collaborations, and training programs to policy briefs—everything we do is designed to help our members become more effective, better connected, and truly impactful, both locally and nationally.
And we’re not slowing down. We're expanding our services, developing new tools for regional coalitions, creating a support system for environmental committees, and investing in smarter strategies to enhance the movement’s overall effectiveness.
Here are a few updates from our work this July, all aimed at strengthening Israel’s environmental movement.

🏗️ Empowering Environmental Activism through the Planning SystemOne of Life & Environment’s core missions is to ensure environmental representation in Israel’s planning and building committees. As part of this effort, we launched a new, in-depth training program focused on environmental activism through the planning system. This modular program offers participants professional training and hands-on guidance for engaging with Israel’s planning institutions. Key components include:
🧑🎓 Participants will receive user-friendly training materials for continued independent use, empowering them to take action without the need for constant legal assistance.🗣️ The program features guest sessions with environmental representatives from planning committees, offering direct engagement and Q&A opportunities.👥 Additionally, we will host community leaders who have led successful resident campaigns, providing practical lessons from the field. The program is led by planning attorney Adam Din, who brings deep professional expertise and a commitment to civic empowerment. We are excited to equip a new generation of environmental activists with the tools and knowledge to make a real impact through Israel’s planning system! |

🗳️ Standing for Democracy and Sustainability – Side by Side
This month, our Executive Director, Eran Ben Yemini, participated in a special panel on "The Links Between Liberal Democracy and Sustainability" at the Annual Conference of the Israeli Society for Ecology and Environmental Sciences, held at Tel Aviv University.
The panel brought together representatives from key sectors to share insights on the complex relationship between democratic values and environmental action. Participants explored both the synergies and the tensions between these two foundational ideas.
Eran offered a broad perspective on the current state of Israel’s environmental organizations in the context of the country’s democratic challenges. He emphasized that the fight for democracy is inseparable from the environmental struggle. He shared how Life & Environment is working to advance democracy through empowering local authorities, strengthening Arab society, and promoting civil society representation in governmental bodies and decision-making processes.
At a time when democratic values and climate action are both under pressure, we remain committed to defending them—together.

📈Strengthening Our Community with monday.comThis July, as part of our Learning Community Program, we partnered with monday.com to empower environmental organizations with better digital tools.Together, we hosted two exclusive training events:
